Are Holiday Weekends the Best Time for House Hunting?
There’s something oddly romantic about shopping for homes during holiday weekends in Philadelphia.
Maybe it’s because the city slows down a little. The streets feel quieter. People leave town. Open houses are less crowded. Even the light feels softer somehow walking through South Philly on a Sunday afternoon with coffee in hand and a list of properties pulled up on your phone.
But from a real estate perspective, holiday weekends can actually be one of the best times to seriously look at homes.
Less competition.
More flexibility.
And sometimes sellers who are truly motivated to make a move before summer fully begins.
I’ve noticed that buyers who shop during these slower moments tend to see homes differently too. There’s less pressure to perform and more space to actually imagine yourself living there. Hosting dinners in the kitchen. Walking to get coffee in the morning. Learning the rhythm of a new block.
Philadelphia is such a neighborhood-driven city. Buying here has never really been just about square footage to me. It’s about finding the version of the city that feels the most like you.
And honestly? Holiday weekends are when the city feels the most honest.
Until Next Sunday,
