In the City, Lately

Last Sunday found me on Turner Street, doors open, lights on, hosting an open house amid what feels like nonstop new construction. The listing lives on the homepage, but the real story was outside the spec sheet. Neighbors wandering in. Buyers lingering longer than planned. The city doing what it does best—circulating.

Somewhere between wrapping up and heading out, I picked up a nail in my tire. Which felt appropriate. If you’re going to spend your Sunday surrounded by development, growth, and transformation, the city will eventually ask for a small sacrifice.

Monday morning was meant for SoulCycle. Instead, I realized—too late—that it wasn’t happening. A scheduling oversight, sure, but also a rare gift. The morning slowed, the noise quieted, and I leaned fully into Morgan & the City. I spent the day resetting, refining, and asking the kind of questions that don’t come with immediate answers: What do I want this brand to say? How should it feel? And how do I want it to live alongside my real estate work, not just promote it?

Tuesday brought an inspection at the Baltimore Avenue investment property (you’ll find that one in the Investment section of the site). Everything looked good—no drama, no surprises, the best kind of update. Later, I explored Café Vietnam in the neighborhood, which I’ll say plainly: the pho alone deserves a return visit. Some inspections check boxes; others check cravings.

Wednesday was practical, productive, and oddly satisfying. The tire was fixed. Depop orders shipped. A reminder that side hustles can be both creative and quietly lucrative. That evening, our company holiday party at Mission Taqueria struck the right balance of celebratory and well executed. The tequila old fashioned made a strong case for itself.

Thursday was a pause. Time at home. Errands. Groceries at Whole Foods—specifically the Pennsylvania Avenue location, because a parking lot matters more than we admit. I also officially wrapped the website that day, which felt like putting a period at the end of a sentence I’ve been drafting for a while.

Friday night was for celebrating friends. I met up at Billionaire Cocktail Lounge for Tyree’s birthday and ended the night close to home. Around 9 p.m., latte in hand, I realized I’ve entered a new phase of city life—one where stamina requires planning and caffeine is no longer optional.

Saturday slowed everything back down. A true day off. Time to reset, catch up, and quietly celebrate an offer accepted on my Mount Airy listing on Hortter Street, now also featured on the homepage. Proof that even restful days can still move things forward.

And that’s the week.

This space—In the City—isn’t about doing everything perfectly. It’s about noticing. The work, the lifestyle, the detours, the small moments that make city living feel layered instead of loud. Real estate is part of the story, but never the whole plot.

Or, as someone once asked in Sex and the City:

Can you have it all?

I’m more interested in how it all fits.

More soon.

Always, in the city.
